Lightning Talks

WORK THAT ROOM Lightning Talks Event
Thursday, March 6th from 5 – 7 pm

Vancouver Island Conference Centre

Whether you’re an introvert or naturally outgoing, learn how to increase business leads and get more customers by improving your networking and communication skills! VSP Media and the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce invite you to the WORK THAT ROOM Lightning Talks Event at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, Thursday, March 6th from 5 – 7 pm.

Lightning Talks include:

1. Work That Room!
What to do before, during and after a networking event to ensure you get the most bang for your buck.
Presenter: David Hatchman - VSP Media

2. Comprendo / No Comprendo
How to talk business to people who speak English as a second Language.
Presenter: Gavin McConnell – Vancouver Island University

3. Elevator Up!
How to effectively introduce yourself and your business in 45 seconds or less in an “elevator speech” aka “infomercial”.
Presenter: Nick West - Enable Business Consulting

4. Who Was That Guy? How to remember someone’s name when you’re meeting fifty or more “some-ones” in an evening.
Presenter: Shawn Hildebrandt (AKA “Zigster the Trickster”) – Steve Marshall Ford

5. Lightning Infomercials
Twelve people’s names will be drawn out of a hat and will each get an opportunity to deliver a 45 second infomercial.

6. Lightning Evaluations:
The infomercials will be evaluated for effectiveness.

After the Lightning Talks you can immediately practice what you’ve learned with networking in the lobby. The networking portion of the event features a no host bar and live music.

ADMISSION: $19+GST for YPN & Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce Members, $24+GST for non-members
