2025 September Business After Business

2025 September Business After Business

Hosted by Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue

We’re kicking off the first Business After Business of the season with an evening on the water! Join us as we partner with the Nanaimo Marine Rescue Society, the organization behind the Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 27.

What It’s About

Station 27 has been serving the mid-Island boating community for over 20 years with a clear mission: “Saving lives on the water.” With two rescue vessels, a boathouse, and a dedicated crew of trained volunteer first responders, RCMSAR plays a vital role in keeping our waters safe. Beyond emergency response, they actively support community events like the Bathtub Races, Silly Boats, and Dragon Boat Festival, as well as running essential safety programs like “Kids Don’t Float” and boat safety inspections.

About the Speaker

Stephen Morison
President of the Nanaimo Marine Rescue Society
Stephen Morison is the President of the Nanaimo Marine Rescue Society which is responsible for the governance and management of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 27 in Nanaimo. Station 27 has 2 rescue vessels, a boathouse and a team of highly trained and respected volunteer first responders for marine emergencies. Station 27 has been part of the mid-Island community since the early 1990s and has been instrumental in saving lives and marine assets. The mission of the NMRS and Station 27 is straightforward: “Saving lives on the water”. The NMRS also supports community events such as Nanaimo’s Bathtub Race, Silly Boats and the Dragon Boat festival including a Boat Safety Program with active promotion of water safety, boat safety inspections and the “Kids Don’t Float” program at 8 marinas by providing PFDs for youth.

At this BAB, Stephen Morison, President of the NMRS, will share insights into Station 27’s operations, challenges, and benefits for the Nanaimo community..

Why Attend

  • Network with local business leaders at the first BAB of the season.

  • See marine rescue in action with demonstrations and a chance to ride one of the vessels.

  • Learn about water safety and how RCMSAR contributes to saving lives and supporting Nanaimo’s waterfront culture.

  • Enjoy food, drinks, and community connection in a unique marine setting.
