Beyond emergency response\, they actively support community events like the Bathtub Races\, Silly Boats\, and Dragon Boat Festival\, as well as running essential safety programs like "Kids Don't Float" and boat safety inspections.\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker \n\n\n\nStephen Morison \n\nPresident of the Nanaimo Marine Rescue Society \n\nStephen Morison is the President of the Nanaimo Marine Rescue Society which is responsible for the governance and management of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 27 in Nanaimo. Station 27 has 2 rescue vessels\, a boathouse and a team of highly trained and respected volunteer first responders for marine emergencies. Station 27 has been part of the mid-Island community since the early 1990s and has been instrumental in saving lives and marine assets. The mission of the NMRS and Station 27 is straightforward: "Saving lives on the water".
