Welcome to BEACON Building • Expanding • Advancing • Collaborative • Opportunities in Nanaimo

In partnership with the Nanaimo Women’s Business Network, Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Vancouver Island, and Vancouver Island Real Estate Board, BEACON is a new four-part series driving economic growth and collaboration in our city.

Part 2: Business Growth and Entrepreneurship in Nanaimo

Thu, Nov 20 | 7–9 a.m.

Nanaimo Golf Club

About the event:

Focusing on Nanaimo’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, this session will delve into the current business climate, discuss support mechanisms for startups, and provide strategies for resilience and recovery post-pandemic. This session focuses on the resilience and adaptability of Nanaimo’s business community during economically challenging times. Panelists will share insights on overcoming barriers, tapping into available resources, and utilizing collaborative networks to foster growth. Attendees will learn practical strategies for navigating uncertainties and leveraging local strengths for entrepreneurial success.

We’ll also look at the bigger picture: why investors are choosing Nanaimo, how we can better showcase our city to attract more capital, and what steps are needed to align entrepreneurs, government, and community partners to fuel long-term growth. With rising interest rates, inflation, and global uncertainty shaping today’s markets, the discussion will highlight adaptive strategies—from digital transformation to new partnerships—that keep businesses competitive.

Whether you are a founder, small business owner, community investor, or just want to deepen your understanding of what makes Nanaimo’s business ecosystem tick, you’ll get practical takeaways and connections to help you grow.
