Cash Mob

The Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is bringing the phenomena of Cash Mobs to the Island to build awareness of our small business members. One of the principle tenets of Chambers is we encourage Chamber members to support other Chamber members. Cash Mobs reinforce that principle in a novel, and fun way.

What Are Cash Mobs?

(Think of "Flash Mobs" You know - those groups of people who suddenly assemble in a public place to perform a seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse)
Cash mobs started in the States and are spreading all across Canada with huge success! Cash mobs support local shopping and socializing. The concept is simple: with $20 in hand, members of a community come together to shop in a locally-owned establishment to support local business and support the area economy. After, they head towards a local restaurant and enjoy some refreshments and continue networking!

    The Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is organizing the first ever Cash Mob on the Island on December 6th from 5-7 pm . We will support local business, help out a local charity and have fun! The Greater Nanaimo Toy Drive will be there to accept donations of cash or toys.
For more information on Cash Mobs, check out this video.

The Rules:
¨ Spend $20;
¨ Meet three people you didn't know before;
¨ HAVE FUN!!!
Stay tuned to facebook and twitter- the location will be announced soon............
