About our Speaker

Reverend Vernon Foster is the Rector of Saint Paul Anglican Church in downtown Nanaimo. From South Africa he was first ordained in 2006. During his first two years of ministry, he assisted in planting a new parish community in Pretoria East.
He has served as parish priest for 11 years and more recently was the Junior School Chaplain for St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls in Pretoria. Vernon has also served as a Canon of the Cathedral of St. Alban the Martyr in the Diocese of Pretoria, advising the Bishop on matters concerning Gender and Human Sexuality. Until 2020, he was a board member of Out LGBTI Well-Being one of South Africa’s oldest LGBTQ+ organisations. Reverend Vernon is passionate about fostering an inclusive and affirming Church where all people can experience God’s love and be affirmed as beloved children of God, regardless of their life journeys.
