Monthly Networking Luncheon: The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Nanaimo-Serving Suffering Humanity

The role of The Salvation Army in our community with your help and how
we CAN make a difference. We are all part of the bigger picture.

About the Speaker
Kim Maandag

Born and raised in Northern Ireland, and living in Scotland before coming to Canada, I have a broad outlook on life which serves me well in my work with The Salvation Army.  I was a stay-at-home home-schooling Mum, before joining The Salvation Army 17 years ago.  My first job was working for Dawne Anderson as the Kettle Coordinator in 2001, and then I opened and managed the North End Thrift Store in 2002.  Since those early beginnings, I have held various positions including Thrift Store Coordinator, Human Resources and Labour Relations Advisor, Assistant Director and my current position as the Community Ministries Director in charge of all the programs that are run through the New Hope Centre, Community Ministries and our Thrift Stores.  I have also been honoured to have worked in short term appointments in Dawson Creek, Fort St John and Yellowknife with my husband Dave where we were in charge of the entire ministry units.

I am delighted to be able to discuss Nanaimo Ministries with you today and share a little bit of what we do, and why we do it.  I am proud and honoured to work for such an organisation as The Salvation Army, and my desire is that you are able to catch a glimpse of this amazing organisation, and the many programs we run here in Nanaimo.
