Monthly Networking Luncheon: Kidney Foundation

March is Kidney Health Month. Join us on March 14th as guest speakers, Pia Schindler and Ron Walker, present on Kidney Health 101 and how the Kidney Foundation of Canada helps kidney patients and their families. Learn how you can help contribute to reducing the burden of kidney disease.

Ron Walker
Ron is a 30-year volunteer with The Kidney Foundation. He has served as a volunteer with the Nanaimo Chapter since 1993 and joined the BCY Branch Board in 1997. Ron has served a total of 7 years on the Foundation’s National Board of Directors, including 3 years as National Secretary, and was a member of the Foundation’s Investment Committee for 7 years. His daughter was a kidney patient.

Ron will talk about kidney disease.

Pia Schindler
Pia joined the Foundation 10 years ago as Director of Development for the BCY Branch and was promoted to her current role on January 1, 2017. She previously worked for the Alzheimer Foundation in a development role, as well as for the Royal Bank of Canada.

Pia will discuss the role of the Kidney Foundation in BC and the Yukon.

This year, World Kidney Day (March 8th) is dedicated to Kidneys and Women’s Health. The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch exists to help prevent kidney disease or delay the onset. The Foundation helps to provide support services for patients who have chronic kidney disease, are on dialysis, as well as promotes organ donation to increase kidney transplant rates.
